Heia allesammen!
I was going to try and find something interesting to blog about this week but was spared that when Silje called me and told me that she was taking me out. so with an hour to spare i washed the floors, took a shower and had multiple wardrobe changes before hopping in her car and going to pick up soda and snackage and friends and their alcohol before hanging out at someones apartment... which they were loaning to Silje or letting her house sit... not sure which. I drank and made merry there for a few hours before we eventually made it to the city at about 12:30. then after realizing i couldnt get into the bar without my id, because my russelappen doesnt count, i decided comeing home and getting some sleep before being baptized as russ tomorrow was probably a good idea... also charging my little camera. so now im having a little more difficulty than normal writing due to the lateness of the hour, i dont think the booze has so much to do with it... i didnt really drink that much.
ok, as a note, i am not sure if i will have a chance to blog much in the next few weeks. I will try, but im making no promises. I plan on trying to be as russlike as possible... without the mass of drinking until blacking out and having lots and lots of unprotected sex. I'll stay not drunk and there will not be sex. that's what ive decided.
oh though i have to say the taxi driver who got me home was very pleasent to talk to, and he knew immediatly that i was not norwegian, or atleast not from harstad. very nice guy, he wants to drive route 66 in a convertable. he said that was one of his dreams. and he drove me home for only 150 kr as opposed to 180-200 because i only had 150 on me. I hope he sticks around so that if im short on cash during the next 3 weeks i can get a discount. :D
tootles! write to you all eventually!

Thank you for your veiws!
SO i was just checking where my veiwers have been located in the world today (because the internet is a stalking machine and blogger likes to provide information about it)and i came across a most interesting fact!
the top place for veiwers today is South Korea with 17 page veiws. Then we have Norway with 12, Russia and the Ukraine both tie with 7 page veiws. and the US has a sad, 2.
i think my family doesnt care anymore. or they are waiting until tomorrow when they are more sure that ive posted... slackers.
anyway! thanks for reading!!!

The fruits of my labor... a video (hopefully) that required i wake up at all hours of the night... literally
hello all! går det bra?
i had a nice week, very laid back :)
on wednesday we went to the hytte! didnt really do much that day or thursday... but friday we went to a little get together... people were spearing pølse and karro devoured a few marshmellows and such :) i managed to convince Karro to forego her marshmellows and toss a frisbee around with me :) it was alot of fun! i ended up taking off my shoes for the first time in a long time! it was so nice to feel the sand between my toes! I also rolled up my pants and took off my sweatshirt... i just wanted to pretend that it was summer... it worked until the tide came in... and the tide came in really really quickly!!!
anyway, the next day i started my 24 hour project... i also started playing chess with everybody :) im trying to teach Mamma chess... its really odd that she hadnt learned before... chess was one of the first games I learned, so i figured that it was natural that other people learned it early too... oddness!
Saturday was another lazy day! thankfully... the day before i messed with my tripod so i was a little worried that the pics for the 24 hour project wouldnt come out all alike... but the only hour that was off was at 3 pm... that was also blurry because i took off my glasses, so 3pm is ommited... not a great loss in my opinion. there wasnt much change.
the other interesting thing that happened was that i learned that i can turn off alarms without waking up at all. i woke up at 5:30 panicking because i didnt take the 5 o'clock pick...so i ran off to take a pic then... but really the rest was ok, no really big mess ups after that! besideds the occasional forgotton glasses, but that was at night so you cant really see much anyways.
we came back home on sunday, and i immediatly washed my clothes. then i took a much needed shower! today ive been lazing around, except for when i struggled with picasa to get that freaking video to export, and when mamma forced me to eat lutefisk... it was just as horrible this time around!!! i couldnt eat the whole thing, i had to stop when i started gagging at every bite... IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!
anyway, very very boring, but relaxing... but im also exhausted. and rather more interested in the show that is displaying cordyceps fungi than I am with blogging... actually im a little homesick at the moment. Mum sent me an email that told me just how little time i have left in Norway and now i keep switching between "OHMYGODIWANNAGOHOOOOOME!!!!!" and "NEEEEIIIIÆVILALDRIDOTILBAKEÆELSKERNORGE!!!!!" and incase youre wondering there are only 68 days until im back in the states. O.o
ok, enjoy the mini video i made of the light at the hytte! i hope you all realize what pains i went to make it (you dont because im too tired to write about it). I will try to make another with midnattsol when that finally comes around.
snakkes!!!

eheheh... guess who forgot that blogging day is monday?
HEIA!!!
ok so before you all go crazy on me, i will apologize, when i should have been writing a blog post i was reading manga as a way to try and calm myself down after freaking out trying to write a college essay yesterday... why am i writing a college essay when im already accepted to Concordia? i'll tell you after I recount what happened last week... or at least what i remember of it... :D
so you all know that i was forced to take the math test on tuesday... and i have no doubt that i failed... i managed to take the first half of the test, but the second half required a computer... this is totally and completely different from my vision of tests, so i had my pencil and since my calculator batteries died I had my ipod as a calculator... which i was scolded for using... so basically the second part of the test i was completely and utterly screwed. though it probably didnt help that my cat mania has been over the top recently so when i saw a cat in the parking lot outside the window with only 10min to go and 2 big problems left all thoughts of math flew out of my mind and was replaced with "KIIIIIIIIITTY!!!!!!!!!!!OHMYGODITSAKITTYCAT!ILOVECATSIWANNAHUGITIWANNATAKEITHOMEWHYDONTWEHAVEACATTHEYAREWONDERFULTHINGSTHATRULEUSWITHANIRONPAWBUTYOUHAVETOLOVETHEMFORITKIIIITYWHEREAREYOUGOINGDONTHIDBEHINDTHECARCOMEOUTANDBECUTEILOOOOOOOOVEYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
and thus my test ended. and not even an adorable cat could keep me in the exam room for longer than the time it took to pack my stuff up. then i was off to the bus and responding to the message that maja had sent about me coming to her school after i was done at heggen...
so thats where i went, bemoning the loss of my headphones. they literally walked off when i was testing!!! i took them out of my ipod and put them in my pocket and when i went to retrieve them they dissaperead in a puff of smoke... D:
anyway, it was nice to see Maja's school, though i know that i wont be able to go anywhere without a guide any time soon... its a maze, not a school. A FREAKING MAZE!!! "X( (<- for the emoticon uneducated that is a sweaty confused face. at least for me it is...)
then i went and had supper with Maja and her mother! and was really glad i did since Mamma didnt actually go home so i would have been sitting there waiting for her to see if we were eating together for HOURS!!! its fun to hang out with maja... though im kinda worried because she will all of the sudden give this evil laugh and say she cant wait to carry out her plot on me... she said she's borrowing something from a friend who also helped her solidify her evil plot right infront of me... help?
wednesday I did very close to nothing... I did go to the city and go swimming with Silje though!
thursday i took Kazan on a mini walk, and decided that after he refused to listen to my commands having a camera and not a leash was not the brightest idea for bringing home a dog who likes to chase cars... :/
friday i was planning on going for a longer walk by myself so i could get nice pics of Grytøy... but it was rainy and gross so i decided against it... instead I went and met up with maja! then she came over and we had a sleep over... after eating 2 bags of ostepop and subjecting me to shows that i never wanted to watch but she deemed i had to... they were actually kinda funny... but im never watching them again.
saturday morning I ended up walking Maja to the bus stop with Kazan... she likes dogs... me im not really a big fan. ILOVECATS!!!!!!!!!! so she bullied me into letting her take his leash... he was still a pain in the butt though.
after walking her there Kazan and i started walking back (after the bus came ofcourse! i know how to be a gentleman!) and ofcourse the heavens decided to unleash a wet and cold and flaky downpour... the wind blew this horrible wet snow right into our faces and by the time i was 1/8 of the way home the whole front of my body was drentched... DX it was soooo cold! poor kazan could barely see since the snow would catch on his eyebrows, so i would stop to wipe it away since i felt so bad for him... then my hands would freeze! just horrible weather.
anyway, after i changed i spent some time warming up, then i went and joined mamma and karro infront of the tv! we watched Braveheart... it was a sweet movie, though Karro thought it was boring... but then again she thinks all movies are boring... she is an odd child.
then mamma and i started watching 50 first dates, which is a movie i always wanted to watch. she ended up going to bed pretty soon after it started, but i watched it to the end :) just fyi, if i ever suffer from a type of amnesia like that where i wake up thinking it is one specific day of the year then i dont want people to cater to that idea. tell me straight out that i suffered an injury to my frontal lobe and tell me what ive been doing, you know what, remind me to keep a journal of what happens every day... im not very good at that.
Sunday we walked to Tante Berit's house. it was nice to hang out there, we talked a lot and mamma noted how natural it sounds for me to speak norwegian. :D she said it sounds as if i dont really think about it anymore. YAY!!!
then we came home and after discovering that i wasnt tall enough even with a ladder to hang a bird house i went to find the headphones for skype. I was schedualed to skype my parents!
ok, so you know, I love skyping my parents, but this was one of the harder times, all around. they lost power at their house so they had to go to my Aunt's. and i was too busy trying to get them to help me with a housing survey i didnt realize that there was somehting actually important to talk about that time...
so, there is a possibility that i will not being attending Concordia College in the fall. we finally got my financial aid package and the amount that i would have to pay has gone up... actually it has over doubled. I dont have that money, nor do my parents. supposedly one of the reasonings is that my dad's retirement fund is "optional"... -.- really now. who would want to work until they die? that's just stupid!
it was really hard for me to hear that... Concordia College was and is my top choice for undergrad studies. I love the school, i love the things that i can achive there. this school was most likely my dream school. and now im being told that after a year, when my family's financial status is actually less stable they want me to pay more money? its just unfair!
we have come up with a few options. I am currently trying to get advisors' help (from both Concordia and my High School) to see if there are any scholarships or grants that i can apply for. if all else fails i will withdraw from Concordia and I will enroll at USM... I am currently trying to fill out the application online, but it's kinda hard since I dont have all my information with me here in Norway.
If i am taking courses at USM i will try to save money to transfer in either my junior year or my senior year. it really sucks that I might not be able to be there for all 4 years, but that's life.
really, it's very depressing.
and then yesterday, I was terrified out of my wits. I didnt realize that when Mamma said an open house for håndball that she meant that I was going to be participating... *silent scream of terror* ok so my fear of balls being trown anywhere near me has been receding slightly since all the people in my class are pretty good at aiming and helping me not get hit so often by said flying balls... but suddenly i was thrown into a situation where a mass of little kids with varying amounts of control were throwing balls at a wall and having them ricotche at random angles! my pulse ended up going over its normal rate when im running... that was just standing still and having someone trow a ball to me, and then having me throw it on to the other person... it probably didnt help matter that the first thing that happened when i bounced a ball that day was that i bounced up and smacked me in the face... not an enjoyable experience...
thankfully I was able to escape when they had a water break... i fled to the bathroom to regain some sort of coposure... i was actually in tears by the end of that hour... i have rarely felt so scared...
apparently im a wimp... BUT! no one can rationalize why people have irrational fears! though in the case of flying balls i think mine actually counts as rational... and my other irrational fear being clowns and mascots? well i think that one is pretty basic as well. -.-'
after that horrifying adventure we went of a 2 hour crusade for Karro to get new shoes... ugh... really she couldnt decide between black and white shoes that beside the coulor look EXACTLY the same... and we had to go to 6 stores... i was starving so i ended up buying some tempura! om nom nom.
then we came home and Guro and her BF were here... i think his name is Michale... not sure though.
they were chopping up a mass of torsk much to my dismay. but i managed to convince Mamma to make fiskeboller as well so i didnt mind since i didnt have to eat the fish. :P
then i spent a while trying to write an essay. I sent one of my former teachers a message asking for her help with editing... no response as of yet... or she's just ignoring it. that could be a possibility. read some manga. watched part of a crime movie with Mamma and ate Waffels and drank hot coco with Guro and Karro and the BF before going to bed. an okay day if you exclude the terrifying encounter with balls.
today i have not gone to the håndball thing. and im waiting to skype my parents again so i can get some help with the USM application and say hi to my grandparents!!! cant wait! it's my grandpa's birthday so im going to sing the Norwegian Happy Birthday song at him as soon as i see him ^-^ i really hope they dont all read this before i skype them... then we'll have very little to talk about.
oh! almost forgot! next saturday I will be going to Tromsø with Silje to eat lots of sushi and get our lovely bellys and their gorgeous belly buttons peirced! Guro said that she might join us on this escapade! so im going to send her a text when we land in Tromsø :) then we will return to Harstad and attend the beginning of Russetida!!! a huge party that lasts all night!!!!! XD cant wait!!!
anyway... i want to eat some form of food since i havent all day... and i should probably brush my teeth... thats always a good idea.
vi snakkes!!!

grrrrrrrrr...
heia!
how was everybody's weekend? relaxing? good!
anyway, i had a pretty good weekedn, after the party on friday i stayed up just barely long enough to try and write a post... didnt really work out so well...
saturday I was PLANNING on sleeping in, but you know the whole quiet in the morning doesnt seem to ring a bell with my dear host family... no, emptying the washing mashiene at 8 am with maximum clinking and clanking... or yelling up the stairs to get a certian someone up to take her dog out or just simply stomping around... ugh really, no sense fo when to be quiet... :P
so i got up. and had breakfast, and hung out on the couch reading and watching tv while said host family abandoned the house for various persuits... so relaxing!
so yeah, nothing much.
yesterday i did basically the same thing as on saturday, though i did go to Karro's school for an hour to try and help clean up after a party... we walked in and almost keeled over from the smell of the alcohol... dear lord there were so many bottles! i was told to help Karro and one of her friends to help clean the bathrooms... thankfully the people who had gotten drunk to the point of puking seemed to have gotten it into the toilets... except for the one person who took a wrong turn and puked on a sled... :P really, really gross... thankfully i didnt need to clean that up!
i ended up walking home after i helped clean some... there were a lot of people so i wasnt actually doing much... though i didnt realize taht they would give away the unopened drinks left over from the party after everything was done... mamma got a rum and coke... :( want.
anyway, today i again tried to sleep in, but you know the normal stomp stomp stomp and yelling from someone to wake up... oh and singing this morning... Kazan's birthday is today... supposedly i was supposed to make a cake... yeah right! not happening!!!
ive read most of the day though i did chat with Veronica (my sister. i say sister because we know way too much about each other... it's scary sometimes, but in truth we met in HS and didnt really start talking until sophmore year... she was way too smart to be in many of my classes! XD )
and now im trying to figure out some of the math that has been plaging me all semester since i have a test tomorrow that you know what? IM GOING TO FAIL!!! i might get 1 or 2 problems right because of pure luck, but really it doesnt really make a difference if i take it or if i just ask the teacher to give me the grade we both know im going to get... im not sure why exactly mamma is so insitant on me taking this test, ive told her that i know i will fail it, and i could be doing something that i actually enjoy and doesnt make me feel stressed. i figure im going to have so many tests next year and labs and such that I WANT A YEAR TO RELAX PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!! she asked me today when we were "talking" about the tests that i was here for school... ummmmm... no. im not! im here for me! i want to learn a new language and culture... math is cross-cultural, i can learn what i need to in remedial math next year, but the only reason im taking math here is because my dear Mum told me to, and i needed a class to fill up the total hours for the school requirements...
I HATE THIS MATH COURSE!!! i feel homesick when im in class, and stupid! i feel substandard and I CANT GET OUT!!!!! I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
god it makes me want to cry... sometimes i do actualy... i sit there ith my hand over my eyes as if im looking at my paper andjust cry a little... nobody notices. nobody gives a shit that im in the class anyway.
ok... anyway, im going to be angsty offline... i think thats enough of sharing my pain on the net... :/
send me a message, i like to hear from people. Grandma, you should write me an email because Grandpa is thouroughly un descriptive about how you guys are doing and all that jazz... he wrote about 5 sentances... O.o
ok dokker, vi snakkes.
how was everybody's weekend? relaxing? good!
anyway, i had a pretty good weekedn, after the party on friday i stayed up just barely long enough to try and write a post... didnt really work out so well...
saturday I was PLANNING on sleeping in, but you know the whole quiet in the morning doesnt seem to ring a bell with my dear host family... no, emptying the washing mashiene at 8 am with maximum clinking and clanking... or yelling up the stairs to get a certian someone up to take her dog out or just simply stomping around... ugh really, no sense fo when to be quiet... :P
so i got up. and had breakfast, and hung out on the couch reading and watching tv while said host family abandoned the house for various persuits... so relaxing!
so yeah, nothing much.
yesterday i did basically the same thing as on saturday, though i did go to Karro's school for an hour to try and help clean up after a party... we walked in and almost keeled over from the smell of the alcohol... dear lord there were so many bottles! i was told to help Karro and one of her friends to help clean the bathrooms... thankfully the people who had gotten drunk to the point of puking seemed to have gotten it into the toilets... except for the one person who took a wrong turn and puked on a sled...
IM GOING TO FAIL!!! i might get 1 or 2 problems right because of pure luck, but really it doesnt really make a difference if i take it or if i just ask the teacher to give me the grade we both know im going to get... im not sure why exactly mamma is so insitant on me taking this test, ive told her that i know i will fail it, and i could be doing something that i actually enjoy and doesnt make me feel stressed. i figure im going to have so many tests next year and labs and such that I WANT A YEAR TO RELAX PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!! she asked me today when we were "talking" about the tests that i was here for school... ummmmm... no. im not! im here for me! i want to learn a new language and culture... math is cross-cultural, i can learn what i need to in remedial math next year, but the only reason im taking math here is because my dear Mum told me to, and i needed a class to fill up the total hours for the school requirements...

wow... my 100th post... well, only because i like random posts of commercials or to let you guys know that i cant post that day due to unforseen event
...
heia!!!
går det bra allesammen? ^.^ du førstå mæ ikkje når æ skrev på norsk hvis du e ikkje en utveksling student eller fra norge... :D win
so, how was Devyn's week?
I would like to note that ive been freaking out all week. besideds still beingkinda sick and unable to do much i still have managed to do my activities! ... on second thought that's probably why im still a little sick... :/
alright, tuesday!!! what happened on tuesday... well, my norsk/religion teacher's mother is sick so she has taken this week off to take care of her. so i only had 2 classes on tuesday! i went home and got my vaccuuming done and read my book. i love to read!
wednesday however was much more interesting! i was told to meet Morgana in the entryway after the 3rd class so we could go down to the city. i was there on time and 10 min later the buss tothe city showed up... yeah, the bus showed up and waited there for about 5 min. it pulled away as the ever late Morgana made her way up the last set of stairs... i gave her one of my most evil looks and pointed at the bus that we had no way of catching... >X(
that was a bit annoying... so we ended up walking to the city... grrrr... i had agreed to go buy something with Morgana and then meet up with Maja! i went to a place i had not quite decide on. i wasnt sure if it was a driving school or a graffitti place... turns out it was a teen hang out, cafe place! pretty cool! teens can connect to the net and buy some food and just socialize while waiting for something more interesting :D
it was fun hanging out there, i met a new friend in the making there, Hans, who reminds me of a coworker in the states... they are very similar personalities, and their tone of voice are similar!!! Hans started giving me fashion advice when i showed him and Maja the shoes that i was considering buying... it was kinda funny!
then i had swimming, which Silje and i managed to do with 5 min before the time i normally call off the rest of any laps we might have planned on, so i can shower and take a bus :)
then i went home.
thursday was uneventful. I had school, which was boring and then i went home after meeting up with pappa (mamma had gone to tromsø) and we had a quick middag of pølse and potetmøs... mashed potatoes to their creamyest! then i caught a bus back to town.
in town while i waited with my mocha i was entertained by a little girl... im guessing about 2-3 years old... sooo cute!
dance was fun, we learned how to do a "shuffle" which is kinda hard until you get it! i ended up dancing with more women than men... but it was fun! everybody has a good time trying their best!!!
and then we have today... i had history, and made a fool of myself because i dont know enough american history off the bat, and i thought we were studying NORWAY during the 80's... suddenly the teacher starts asking me questions about the president during the 80's and asking me about his policies and im just sitting there feeling like a fool... seriously, american history doesnt interest me as much as some histories, and i really dislike polotics... this teacher knows both of those things about me ans STILL asked me...
i wish she would retire... or be hospitalized... or have to leave the country... or if all else fails i wish someone would kidnapp her and leave her on a desert island... that would solve many problems.
then i got an excuse to skip math! i went to meet with the american students who are visiting Harstad's Høgeskole from Minot State University! they are a very nice group, if a little stand offish at first. it was weird to speak english like that again. sure i speak some english, but im often switching between norwegian and english when im talking to a friend who wants to speak english here... when i met them if i started speaking norwegian they wouldnt understand what i was saying... it was kinda hard actually... not like talking to mum and dad... not at all.
we actually didnt do much, they had already seen pretty much all of Harstad (not that difficult. theres bysentrum and the schools... other than that, boats and houses and factories.) so i ended up hanging out with Maja and Kristin at the cafe place. :)
then i caught a ride home with Pappa and changed clothes and relaxed before heading to an international party at the student bar at Høgeskole. I decided that since it was my first time being able to legally drink at a bar that i would wear my SKÅL t-shirt that i bought for russtida! and i wore my new russ norway flag shoes!
it was really fun! i had a good time hanging out with the international students of Høgeskole! it was a little ackward for me at first because i was the youngest, and notin collegey that point. but pretty quick i started mixing! it was dissapointing to take the bus home, though now im glad since im typing this with my eyes closed half of the time... literally, so please excuse any typeos!
alright, that was it. I would describe more, but im so tired right now that i just want to sleep... and just to let you know i only had 1 smirnoff ice, so im nowhere near buzzed... :D im such a good girl... :/
ok, natta! vi snakkes! if you have questions then just ask!

Man:And manly (?) like a viking! (cant really understand what he says next)
Woman: (not sure what she says either... sorry)

Mr. Melk: Yesh, Hello everybody (personally i think he sounds like he's drunk but whatever!)
Woman: Doesnt he have to speak Norwegian?
Mr. Melk: Hello everybody!

Man: Then we need a little Norwegian nature.
Woman: Yes!
Mr. Melk: It's smart and it's healthy!Tine milk is very ritch in very good protiens, which help make you strong and muscular. It tastes good ;)

Woman's subs: aliright, go.
Woman's subs: forget it. you owe me.

Rumpe mot rumpe! XD
Heia!
Is everybody thoughouly tired of my random posts of norwegian commercials? sorry but expect more, they are a wonderfull thing in my life!!!
anyway, my weekend revolved around the upstairs couch. or actually moved between my bed, the couch and the kitchen (i have a fondness for food if people havent noticed XD)im still coffing (<- is that spelled right? the only thing that seems right about that is the pokemon Koffing and im not sure they are spelled the same way besides the "k")
anywhoo. not much going on this weekend, though i did make some sushi on saturday! i'll upload some pics... yeah right. i'll try to upload some pics. maybe.
yeah, really boring.
Ole-Peter and Eilin came over on sunday to have middag with us (tacos!!!) though they were late so we were done eating when they got here. it was fun to see them and hang out a little. Oh and i did get bugged by Kristin who came over to ask for vanilla extract (which she hasnt returned... i need to ask her for that) for the chocolate penis cake for a friend's brithday... O.o
anyway, lazy days.
today i woke up drentched in sweat and was altering between shivering chills to dripping sweat... but DANG it i was going to go to gym class and swimming. really ive been looking forward to boxing since i learned that we were going to do such... but it wasnt really as exciting as i thought it would be unfortunatly... i helped the group teaching with basic strikes and how to move around... because when it comes to boxing thats all i really know. i know martial arts, or a little of 2 styles. :)
anywhoo, after that i had bio, for which the teacher showed up just barely in time... really i was just about to move out... but i managed to skedaddle down to the library anway, though Jorun did check up on me. she was interested in what im planning on writing about for my little writing project on bacteria or viruses.
after that it wastime for swimming. Poor Maja is sick :( so she couldnt come today. and there were way too many people to do our normal laps, so silje and i passed a ball back and forth while treading water and swiming to recover ti when we aimed wrong :D
when we were showering there were a couple of little boys (im guessing about 4-5 years old) who were rubbing their butts together singing "rumpe mot rumpe! rumpe mot rumpe!" it was soooo funny (rumpe mot rumpe means butt against butt)it took all ofmy restraint to not just burst out laughing! Silje thought it was funny too :)
so in other news Karro now has an ipod, she is very happy! and i will meet some students from the university of Minot, North Dakota... not sure when... but this week. so odd to think i will be talking to americans for the first time (really talking to them the military people at Grøttebådet dont count) since i left the afs camp in Oslo in august (im also talking about talking in person... skype doesnt count) so odd...
anway i will leave you with a couple more funny commercials, both for the same thing, a swedish clothing brand!
and the 2nd!
funny right! except for the facial peircings and the mohawks my Mum kinda sounds like them when she tries to pronounce Norwegin words... XD
ok, vi snakkes folkens!

more norwegian commercials because i really cant help it...
so this one is for a type of potato chips.
basically the woman comes in and says that she wants to buy the chips that the store owner had just taken for himself to eat... the store owner procedes to try and keep the
chips from her while she keeps saying that she would like the bag of chips that he put on the floor... XD
The second one i might have posted before, but i just figured out how to actually post the videos on this blog so i think people might have an easier time of watching them like this :D
this one is about eating fruit as opposed to candy. they are all football players, or if you are american they're soccer players XD
a rough translation:
"no, no boy,
this has to stop.
John Arne take it away.
If you want to to get to the top,
you have to watch for things good for (your) body.
good for (your) body
good for (your) body
do you want to be (delicious? (really not sure what that word was))
yes.
fruit is healthy and delicious."
im not sure what the rest of the commercial is saying but i think its fun!
ok, im done! vi snakkes!

Bare Jarlsberg er Jarlsberg... the evolution of a commercial!
heia!
so, i wasnt planning on posting but you know what! i will!
I just saw a commercial that i thought i had seen before when i realized that, no, it was commercial 2 of 2 (as of now... cant wait to see what happens next). this commercial is for a type of cheese.
commercial #1:
Translation:
The wife comes home and says hi to her husband and then freaks out a little over the mini dog that comes to say hi. the husband asks the wife if she bought Jarlsberg cheese. she replies that she bought another type of cheese. the husband asks again if she bought Jarlsberg, and the wife says "ost er ost" which means "cheese is cheese"
the next scene the wife comes home and says hi to the husband and starts to say hi to the dog that comes running to say hi, but then is freaked out by the big dog that comes. she looks at the husband for an explaination who says "en hund er en hund" which means "a dog is a dog"
pffft! this commercial played for a few months! it always makes me laugh... but now we have this lovely sequel
Commercial #2:
Translation:
The wife comes home, isnt so psyced to see the big dog. the husband asks if she bought Jarlsberg, and she replies that she bought another type of cheese. he asks again if she bought Jarlsberg, and she says that "gulost er gulost" which means "yellow cheese is yellow cheese"
next scene wife walks into the house and stops dead. the husband smiles and says basically "whats the matter? color is color."
end translation.
isnt it great!!! lord i love norwegian commercials!!!

frozen scandanavian sushi... dont really want to eat that again... ever :P
heia!!!
how's it going for all of you? are you healthy and happy?
well at least some of us are... :(
anyway, how was my week...
tuesday... im having mental problems... that can possibly be attributed to the fact that fear factor is rather interesting... there's ice and fire and swimming and stairs... so odd...
anyway, nothing really exciting happened in school, but after school i met up with Maja! and as we were walking back to her house we met Kristin, who we accompanied through the shopping center and then abandoned (sp) when we got out the other side, which annoyed Kristin much to our amusement... :D
we sat and watched an episode of Bones, then played around on youtube... especially the latterwhen we realized that Jostein hadn't logged off of my computer on youtube... so we decided to subscribe him to a bunch of... interesting... videos and such... XD it was really fun! sure it was easily remedied, but it made him hyperventilate for about a half an hour while he was stuck at work and had NO IDEA what Maja and I had done. we had left him a message on his fb account alerting him to the fact that we had semi taken over... then i called him when he didnt reply, then i realized he was probably working... XD he eventually called because he didnt really understand what the message i lefton his phone meant... then he started worrying... it was soooo funny! it probably didnt help that Maja and I couldnt help giggling evilly when we were telling him what the message meant... >:D sooo much fun!!! he just kept saying "oh crap" XD it was great!!!
anyway, we had some spagetti with Camilla, Maja's mum, who apparently really likes me :) so does her boyfriend. from what i can understand its because i am an okay conversationalist :)
but eventually it was time for me to go home, after which nothing interisting happened.
wednesday in bio it was rather funny. we are studying bacteria and viruses at the moment, so we did a little test where everybody rubbed their hands against the other classmates' as to spread the majority of the bacteria on our hands so that everybody had similar samples. then we had a control group who didnt wash their hands, a group that washed with water, a group that washed with normal (non-antibacterial) soap, and a group that used anti-bacterial stuff that dries almost immediatly. then we all pressed our fingers on the agar to see if anything grows. i made the observation that the agar in the petri-dishes was most likely blood agar since i wasnt sure there was any other type of red agar. that was confirmed when i asked Jorun the teacher! i feel so smart sometimes.
then we were to go around the school with the petri-dishes and either take swabs or leave them open to see if anything landed. my group tried to put one in the teachers' launge but they wouldnt let us... they said we had to ask the principal but i think they just didnt want to know if there was anything that could grow in their coffee XD
after that i had a laid back day except for swimming. Maja couldnt make it :( and unfortunatly her phone was out of battery so we didnt actually get in contact with her until after we swam. we figured that after about a half an hour we should just swim. and after 1600 meters we showered, stretched out in the sauna and went home.
right before i went to bed i started to feel a tickle in my throat... oh dear lord no...
i woke up the next morning and immediatly knew i was sick. i couldn't breath properly and swallowing induced flinching, so i decided that i really shouldnt go to school. when i woke up for the secondtime i could barely speak and i could feel the infection spreading to my lungs... my immediate reaction was: "oh no i have pneumonia AGAIN?!?!?!" well that was my guess, ive had pneumonia a few times over the past few years so im pretty good at guessing when i get it... so after a trip to the doctor a mini blood test to see what my CIV was and aparently i dont have pneumonia... im still not sure i believe that, but im hoping that its true... i was told to take the norwegian equivilant to tylonal and sent home... the tylonal stuff has been working a little, but i still feel like poop.
so i didnt go to school again today... and im glad i didnt, i get really dizzy if i stand up for too long or if i sit upright... i have a pretty constant headache and i cant speak very well still...
anyway ive been pretty relaxed today, and thanks to being sick ive managed to break Naruto's hold ove3r my mind... ive been watching an amazing amount of history channel and murder mystery shows today. Bones was great! it was the episode where Bones decided that she was going to use Booth's sperm to have a child... pffft! sooo funny! she is such a rational character! it makes everything funny!
anyway i thought that i would be making sushi today so i was pumped for that, but when mamma came home she came home with frozen sushi... O.o that immediatly put me on edge... you had to microwave it so that it wouldnt be frozen... the smell was horrible! i was not impressed with the taste either. next time i will make sure to make it or bring them to a restaurant so that they know that frozen sushi is gross... XP i never want to eat that stuff again!!!
anyway, im sitting watching a show about WW2 so im having problems paying attention... and i really dont feel like writing anymore... but oh! i will give you a link to a cute commercial that's been playing recently. as always im impressed at the diversity of the norwegian commercials!
also you can take a peek at a car that was on a show called top gear that i really like, because i really like oddly shaped or old shaped vehicles
and yes, both of those cars are my favorites besideds my little electic truck aren't they intersting!!! i actually think i sense a theme here... i like convertables and pick-ups... :/ and blue cars, not red, sorry grandma!
here is a video of the men from Top Gear when they did something so stupid and life threatening as to drive with slogans painted on their cars... through alabama... idots, they actually almost got injured, and were chased out of the state... until they managed to shake off their pursuers and wash off all the slogans... with soda if you realize it... one of the best parts of this is when they go from joking "ah this is really fun nothing will really happen" to "oh shit, they really dont like me" to "get the slogans off lads! they're still chasing us!!! WITH GUNS!!!" yeah... pretty stupid of them to do if you ask me...
anyway i found an adorable youtube video of the type of cat i want. A Savannah cat is a hybrid domsetic cat. the wild part of the cat comes from an african servil! i love this cat, they are decscribed as having semi-dog like personality qualities (extremely attached to their people) and the best of cat (very aloof). these kittens are soo cute! you can see some of their antics if you watch the whole thing, but you dont have too... just look up Savannah Cat on google and you will get some great pics!
ok, vi snakkes!!!
how's it going for all of you? are you healthy and happy?
well at least some of us are... :(
anyway, how was my week...
tuesday... im having mental problems... that can possibly be attributed to the fact that fear factor is rather interesting... there's ice and fire and swimming and stairs... so odd...
anyway, nothing really exciting happened in school, but after school i met up with Maja! and as we were walking back to her house we met Kristin, who we accompanied through the shopping center and then abandoned (sp) when we got out the other side, which annoyed Kristin much to our amusement... :D
