...
heia!!!
går det bra allesammen? ^.^ du førstå mæ ikkje når æ skrev på norsk hvis du e ikkje en utveksling student eller fra norge... :D win
so, how was Devyn's week?
I would like to note that ive been freaking out all week. besideds still beingkinda sick and unable to do much i still have managed to do my activities! ... on second thought that's probably why im still a little sick... :/
alright, tuesday!!! what happened on tuesday... well, my norsk/religion teacher's mother is sick so she has taken this week off to take care of her. so i only had 2 classes on tuesday! i went home and got my vaccuuming done and read my book. i love to read!
wednesday however was much more interesting! i was told to meet Morgana in the entryway after the 3rd class so we could go down to the city. i was there on time and 10 min later the buss tothe city showed up... yeah, the bus showed up and waited there for about 5 min. it pulled away as the ever late Morgana made her way up the last set of stairs... i gave her one of my most evil looks and pointed at the bus that we had no way of catching... >X(
that was a bit annoying... so we ended up walking to the city... grrrr... i had agreed to go buy something with Morgana and then meet up with Maja! i went to a place i had not quite decide on. i wasnt sure if it was a driving school or a graffitti place... turns out it was a teen hang out, cafe place! pretty cool! teens can connect to the net and buy some food and just socialize while waiting for something more interesting :D
it was fun hanging out there, i met a new friend in the making there, Hans, who reminds me of a coworker in the states... they are very similar personalities, and their tone of voice are similar!!! Hans started giving me fashion advice when i showed him and Maja the shoes that i was considering buying... it was kinda funny!
then i had swimming, which Silje and i managed to do with 5 min before the time i normally call off the rest of any laps we might have planned on, so i can shower and take a bus :)
then i went home.
thursday was uneventful. I had school, which was boring and then i went home after meeting up with pappa (mamma had gone to tromsø) and we had a quick middag of pølse and potetmøs... mashed potatoes to their creamyest! then i caught a bus back to town.
in town while i waited with my mocha i was entertained by a little girl... im guessing about 2-3 years old... sooo cute!
dance was fun, we learned how to do a "shuffle" which is kinda hard until you get it! i ended up dancing with more women than men... but it was fun! everybody has a good time trying their best!!!
and then we have today... i had history, and made a fool of myself because i dont know enough american history off the bat, and i thought we were studying NORWAY during the 80's... suddenly the teacher starts asking me questions about the president during the 80's and asking me about his policies and im just sitting there feeling like a fool... seriously, american history doesnt interest me as much as some histories, and i really dislike polotics... this teacher knows both of those things about me ans STILL asked me...
i wish she would retire... or be hospitalized... or have to leave the country... or if all else fails i wish someone would kidnapp her and leave her on a desert island... that would solve many problems.
then i got an excuse to skip math! i went to meet with the american students who are visiting Harstad's Høgeskole from Minot State University! they are a very nice group, if a little stand offish at first. it was weird to speak english like that again. sure i speak some english, but im often switching between norwegian and english when im talking to a friend who wants to speak english here... when i met them if i started speaking norwegian they wouldnt understand what i was saying... it was kinda hard actually... not like talking to mum and dad... not at all.
we actually didnt do much, they had already seen pretty much all of Harstad (not that difficult. theres bysentrum and the schools... other than that, boats and houses and factories.) so i ended up hanging out with Maja and Kristin at the cafe place. :)
then i caught a ride home with Pappa and changed clothes and relaxed before heading to an international party at the student bar at Høgeskole. I decided that since it was my first time being able to legally drink at a bar that i would wear my SKÅL t-shirt that i bought for russtida! and i wore my new russ norway flag shoes!
it was really fun! i had a good time hanging out with the international students of Høgeskole! it was a little ackward for me at first because i was the youngest, and notin collegey that point. but pretty quick i started mixing! it was dissapointing to take the bus home, though now im glad since im typing this with my eyes closed half of the time... literally, so please excuse any typeos!
alright, that was it. I would describe more, but im so tired right now that i just want to sleep... and just to let you know i only had 1 smirnoff ice, so im nowhere near buzzed... :D im such a good girl... :/
ok, natta! vi snakkes! if you have questions then just ask!

Rumpe mot rumpe! XD
Heia!
Is everybody thoughouly tired of my random posts of norwegian commercials? sorry but expect more, they are a wonderfull thing in my life!!!
anyway, my weekend revolved around the upstairs couch. or actually moved between my bed, the couch and the kitchen (i have a fondness for food if people havent noticed XD)im still coffing (<- is that spelled right? the only thing that seems right about that is the pokemon Koffing and im not sure they are spelled the same way besides the "k")
anywhoo. not much going on this weekend, though i did make some sushi on saturday! i'll upload some pics... yeah right. i'll try to upload some pics. maybe.
yeah, really boring.
Ole-Peter and Eilin came over on sunday to have middag with us (tacos!!!) though they were late so we were done eating when they got here. it was fun to see them and hang out a little. Oh and i did get bugged by Kristin who came over to ask for vanilla extract (which she hasnt returned... i need to ask her for that) for the chocolate penis cake for a friend's brithday... O.o
anyway, lazy days.
today i woke up drentched in sweat and was altering between shivering chills to dripping sweat... but DANG it i was going to go to gym class and swimming. really ive been looking forward to boxing since i learned that we were going to do such... but it wasnt really as exciting as i thought it would be unfortunatly... i helped the group teaching with basic strikes and how to move around... because when it comes to boxing thats all i really know. i know martial arts, or a little of 2 styles. :)
anywhoo, after that i had bio, for which the teacher showed up just barely in time... really i was just about to move out... but i managed to skedaddle down to the library anway, though Jorun did check up on me. she was interested in what im planning on writing about for my little writing project on bacteria or viruses.
after that it wastime for swimming. Poor Maja is sick :( so she couldnt come today. and there were way too many people to do our normal laps, so silje and i passed a ball back and forth while treading water and swiming to recover ti when we aimed wrong :D
when we were showering there were a couple of little boys (im guessing about 4-5 years old) who were rubbing their butts together singing "rumpe mot rumpe! rumpe mot rumpe!" it was soooo funny (rumpe mot rumpe means butt against butt)it took all ofmy restraint to not just burst out laughing! Silje thought it was funny too :)
so in other news Karro now has an ipod, she is very happy! and i will meet some students from the university of Minot, North Dakota... not sure when... but this week. so odd to think i will be talking to americans for the first time (really talking to them the military people at Grøttebådet dont count) since i left the afs camp in Oslo in august (im also talking about talking in person... skype doesnt count) so odd...
anway i will leave you with a couple more funny commercials, both for the same thing, a swedish clothing brand!
and the 2nd!
funny right! except for the facial peircings and the mohawks my Mum kinda sounds like them when she tries to pronounce Norwegin words... XD
ok, vi snakkes folkens!

more norwegian commercials because i really cant help it...
so this one is for a type of potato chips.
basically the woman comes in and says that she wants to buy the chips that the store owner had just taken for himself to eat... the store owner procedes to try and keep the
chips from her while she keeps saying that she would like the bag of chips that he put on the floor... XD
The second one i might have posted before, but i just figured out how to actually post the videos on this blog so i think people might have an easier time of watching them like this :D
this one is about eating fruit as opposed to candy. they are all football players, or if you are american they're soccer players XD
a rough translation:
"no, no boy,
this has to stop.
John Arne take it away.
If you want to to get to the top,
you have to watch for things good for (your) body.
good for (your) body
good for (your) body
do you want to be (delicious? (really not sure what that word was))
yes.
fruit is healthy and delicious."
im not sure what the rest of the commercial is saying but i think its fun!
ok, im done! vi snakkes!

Bare Jarlsberg er Jarlsberg... the evolution of a commercial!
heia!
so, i wasnt planning on posting but you know what! i will!
I just saw a commercial that i thought i had seen before when i realized that, no, it was commercial 2 of 2 (as of now... cant wait to see what happens next). this commercial is for a type of cheese.
commercial #1:
Translation:
The wife comes home and says hi to her husband and then freaks out a little over the mini dog that comes to say hi. the husband asks the wife if she bought Jarlsberg cheese. she replies that she bought another type of cheese. the husband asks again if she bought Jarlsberg, and the wife says "ost er ost" which means "cheese is cheese"
the next scene the wife comes home and says hi to the husband and starts to say hi to the dog that comes running to say hi, but then is freaked out by the big dog that comes. she looks at the husband for an explaination who says "en hund er en hund" which means "a dog is a dog"
pffft! this commercial played for a few months! it always makes me laugh... but now we have this lovely sequel
Commercial #2:
Translation:
The wife comes home, isnt so psyced to see the big dog. the husband asks if she bought Jarlsberg, and she replies that she bought another type of cheese. he asks again if she bought Jarlsberg, and she says that "gulost er gulost" which means "yellow cheese is yellow cheese"
next scene wife walks into the house and stops dead. the husband smiles and says basically "whats the matter? color is color."
end translation.
isnt it great!!! lord i love norwegian commercials!!!

frozen scandanavian sushi... dont really want to eat that again... ever :P
heia!!!
how's it going for all of you? are you healthy and happy?
well at least some of us are... :(
anyway, how was my week...
tuesday... im having mental problems... that can possibly be attributed to the fact that fear factor is rather interesting... there's ice and fire and swimming and stairs... so odd...
anyway, nothing really exciting happened in school, but after school i met up with Maja! and as we were walking back to her house we met Kristin, who we accompanied through the shopping center and then abandoned (sp) when we got out the other side, which annoyed Kristin much to our amusement... :D
we sat and watched an episode of Bones, then played around on youtube... especially the latterwhen we realized that Jostein hadn't logged off of my computer on youtube... so we decided to subscribe him to a bunch of... interesting... videos and such... XD it was really fun! sure it was easily remedied, but it made him hyperventilate for about a half an hour while he was stuck at work and had NO IDEA what Maja and I had done. we had left him a message on his fb account alerting him to the fact that we had semi taken over... then i called him when he didnt reply, then i realized he was probably working... XD he eventually called because he didnt really understand what the message i lefton his phone meant... then he started worrying... it was soooo funny! it probably didnt help that Maja and I couldnt help giggling evilly when we were telling him what the message meant... >:D sooo much fun!!! he just kept saying "oh crap" XD it was great!!!
anyway, we had some spagetti with Camilla, Maja's mum, who apparently really likes me :) so does her boyfriend. from what i can understand its because i am an okay conversationalist :)
but eventually it was time for me to go home, after which nothing interisting happened.
wednesday in bio it was rather funny. we are studying bacteria and viruses at the moment, so we did a little test where everybody rubbed their hands against the other classmates' as to spread the majority of the bacteria on our hands so that everybody had similar samples. then we had a control group who didnt wash their hands, a group that washed with water, a group that washed with normal (non-antibacterial) soap, and a group that used anti-bacterial stuff that dries almost immediatly. then we all pressed our fingers on the agar to see if anything grows. i made the observation that the agar in the petri-dishes was most likely blood agar since i wasnt sure there was any other type of red agar. that was confirmed when i asked Jorun the teacher! i feel so smart sometimes.
then we were to go around the school with the petri-dishes and either take swabs or leave them open to see if anything landed. my group tried to put one in the teachers' launge but they wouldnt let us... they said we had to ask the principal but i think they just didnt want to know if there was anything that could grow in their coffee XD
after that i had a laid back day except for swimming. Maja couldnt make it :( and unfortunatly her phone was out of battery so we didnt actually get in contact with her until after we swam. we figured that after about a half an hour we should just swim. and after 1600 meters we showered, stretched out in the sauna and went home.
right before i went to bed i started to feel a tickle in my throat... oh dear lord no...
i woke up the next morning and immediatly knew i was sick. i couldn't breath properly and swallowing induced flinching, so i decided that i really shouldnt go to school. when i woke up for the secondtime i could barely speak and i could feel the infection spreading to my lungs... my immediate reaction was: "oh no i have pneumonia AGAIN?!?!?!" well that was my guess, ive had pneumonia a few times over the past few years so im pretty good at guessing when i get it... so after a trip to the doctor a mini blood test to see what my CIV was and aparently i dont have pneumonia... im still not sure i believe that, but im hoping that its true... i was told to take the norwegian equivilant to tylonal and sent home... the tylonal stuff has been working a little, but i still feel like poop.
so i didnt go to school again today... and im glad i didnt, i get really dizzy if i stand up for too long or if i sit upright... i have a pretty constant headache and i cant speak very well still...
anyway ive been pretty relaxed today, and thanks to being sick ive managed to break Naruto's hold ove3r my mind... ive been watching an amazing amount of history channel and murder mystery shows today. Bones was great! it was the episode where Bones decided that she was going to use Booth's sperm to have a child... pffft! sooo funny! she is such a rational character! it makes everything funny!
anyway i thought that i would be making sushi today so i was pumped for that, but when mamma came home she came home with frozen sushi... O.o that immediatly put me on edge... you had to microwave it so that it wouldnt be frozen... the smell was horrible! i was not impressed with the taste either. next time i will make sure to make it or bring them to a restaurant so that they know that frozen sushi is gross... XP i never want to eat that stuff again!!!
anyway, im sitting watching a show about WW2 so im having problems paying attention... and i really dont feel like writing anymore... but oh! i will give you a link to a cute commercial that's been playing recently. as always im impressed at the diversity of the norwegian commercials!
also you can take a peek at a car that was on a show called top gear that i really like, because i really like oddly shaped or old shaped vehicles
and yes, both of those cars are my favorites besideds my little electic truck aren't they intersting!!! i actually think i sense a theme here... i like convertables and pick-ups... :/ and blue cars, not red, sorry grandma!
here is a video of the men from Top Gear when they did something so stupid and life threatening as to drive with slogans painted on their cars... through alabama... idots, they actually almost got injured, and were chased out of the state... until they managed to shake off their pursuers and wash off all the slogans... with soda if you realize it... one of the best parts of this is when they go from joking "ah this is really fun nothing will really happen" to "oh shit, they really dont like me" to "get the slogans off lads! they're still chasing us!!! WITH GUNS!!!" yeah... pretty stupid of them to do if you ask me...
anyway i found an adorable youtube video of the type of cat i want. A Savannah cat is a hybrid domsetic cat. the wild part of the cat comes from an african servil! i love this cat, they are decscribed as having semi-dog like personality qualities (extremely attached to their people) and the best of cat (very aloof). these kittens are soo cute! you can see some of their antics if you watch the whole thing, but you dont have too... just look up Savannah Cat on google and you will get some great pics!
ok, vi snakkes!!!
how's it going for all of you? are you healthy and happy?

here is a video of the men from Top Gear when they did something so stupid and life threatening as to drive with slogans painted on their cars... through alabama... idots, they actually almost got injured, and were chased out of the state... until they managed to shake off their pursuers and wash off all the slogans... with soda if you realize it... one of the best parts of this is when they go from joking "ah this is really fun nothing will really happen" to "oh shit, they really dont like me" to "get the slogans off lads! they're still chasing us!!!
