ohi! how's it going?!

ehehehe... yeah. sporadic poster here! and update on school for you! I am officially a sophomore credits wise, and i'm taking anatomoy and physiology over the summer along with a therapeutic touch course! so far so good, except that in A&P we are doing basic cell bio and chem... which you get in any HS/college basic bio course... since ive taken 4 of these already i am finding myself exceedingly BOOOOOOOOORED!!! ive taken to helping my lab partner and the girls at the bench in front of mine if they are having problems with the labs... ive done them all before so far, which is good, cause i know what to expect, but it doesnt help me concentrate on what we are doing now and I often find myself thinking ahead to when we have to do dissections... as you probably know I dont really like doing dissections, especially on animals. I managed to get over it a bit while in Norway, because of the fish, but here we have to use cats... *remembering panic attack i had when proff TALKED about it* yeah. our proff. started telling us what to expect with the lab and when he started talking about dissecting the cats I felt my temp go up and I started shivering and sweating. my heart rate went up and my ears popped. i started feeling nauseous and decided I should probably leave and get some water when i started seeing colours in front of my eyes... i had to feel my way to the water fountain it was so bad... this is not a good sign. yeah, i'll let you all (all 7 of you who follow this for unknown reasons and whoever happens to stumble on this blog before they leave again) how it works out. XD IN OTHER NEWS!!! I started cross fit! with my mum, who is cruel and unnecessarily giddy about us exercising ourselves into the ground... here is a video of the people who do this proffesionally, the real athleats of this... sport... yeah... im not nearly this good... I am happy if i can make it through the WOD (workout of the day) without dying XD speaking of which im feeling quite proud of myself, i have done 3 crossfit classes in the past 3 days :) monday was 400m run, for a warm up, and 5 reps of 15 shoulder-overhead barbell (22lbs), 100m foot farmers (35lbs kettlebells each hand), 5 stone ground-shoulder (35lbs as 65lbs was asking too much), and 10 burpies (this was just for me) and I did 5 reps and started a 6th. yesterday was a warm up running, jumping jacks, push-ups, and a mass of other things our semi sadistic coach came up with, then a 200m run followed by 30 push-ups, 400m run, 20 push-ups, 800m run, 10 push-ups... i will ust comment now i FREAKING (not the word i wanted to use right there) HATE RUNNING A PUSH-UPS!!! i would do almost anything over these if i had the choice :P today was... hellish? we warmed up with a 400m run, then we started our workout which was 400m run (i managed to switch to 300m rowing after the 2nd rep) 10 sumo deadlifts with a 26lbs kettle bell... for the 1st rep at least... switched to 16 shortly thereafter, 20 goblet squats see vid below, and 30 kettle bell swings... :D i managed to do 4 full reps and did the rowing for my 5th! *feeling empowered and good about myself* and this is for everybody i might add, it can be changed to make sure you dont injure yourself, you do as much as you can and if it gets to be too much you bring down the weight or take a breather. i would really encourage this for everybody! (note i just finished my fundamentals class and have just about hit my month mark!) besides that... ive joined a writing group, I try to write 1,500 words a day so that I can have 50k done and edited with my writing group by the end of the summer... aka august. we are finally splitting into sub groups so I hope this means i will be getting more feedback than I have previously... *fingers crossed!* I am already over 16k words, and I havent done my writing for the day... I have to do hmwk first, and I really need to go shopping soon... so i guess that signals i should get off this... have a wonderful day folks! and enjoy the time where you dont have to read my rambling entries!

For Once I'm Proud to be at USM

hello again!

ok, so dont get used to me posting regularly... it probably wont happen... I just have something rather great to share!

Have you all heard of the Genocide Awareness Project? GAP for short. It is completely normal if you haven't, but if you are a college student then you might be unfortunate enough to have them invade your campus at some point.

the GAP is a pro-life group that travels around the country to college campuses to display large bilbords and talk about what they believe. I would normally have no problem with this, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, except that this group is like the West Burrow Baptist Church in that even other pro-life organisations are appalled by their tactics.

the images on their bilbords are created to provoke angry and possibly even violent reactions. they say they are a non-religious organisation and are doing this because they "love everybody" but on their bilbords they show images (obviously photoshopped) of late term abortions that they have labeled as first trimester. Here is an example of one of their displays, and here is a diagram of what a fetus ACTUALLY looks like at those ages, WARNING!!! If you are AT ALL squeamish, i would suggest NOT looking at the image that the GAP puts out, it is photoshopped, but it was origionally either a late term abortion (which is illegal unless the mother's life is in danger if she carries to term) or the remains of a miscarriage. (note, the 1st numbers in the 2nd image are the weeks after conception of the fetus, typically it is only legal to abort a fetus up until 21 weeks, though this can vary by state).

not only does this group display these graphic images, they display them along side images of the Holocaust, swasitkas included, or images of genocide in africa, or even the lynching of african americans in the deep south. These images are MEANT to cause a reaction, however these methods are UNACCEPTABLE!

In my school we have a very large population that have escaped zones where genocide is prevalent. that was their reality, many still have family there, and these images show what they faced and puts it next to images of something that a woman had to do to save her life, or something that happened despite her best efforts. these images are deceitful and cause great harm to our community. And our college took their money, and allowed them to walk onto our campus.

thankfully, one of the faculty that knew this had happened had the foresite to let the student body know what was going to happen. The outrage I witnessed in my peers was quickly focused into action. there was many plans on how to block out their images, one idea was to create moving barricades such as the ones used to block out the WBBC when the picket funerals. this was shot down with many other's because it would impede the group's "first amendment rights." eventually it was decided that the best course of action was to ignore them and to not engage them as much as possible.

the group created maps with little descriptions about what was going on and distributed them around campus. we had stations where students involved in the group (and later we had more volunteers) would warn other students who didnt know what was happening about what was ahead.

The GAP (from what one of the organizers told one of our students)get 250-500 people to stop at their displays normally in their 2 day visits, and despite the group having chosen a place where there is a lot of traffic (especially on nice days) they had less than 100 of our students stop.

From what we know of their group, they get a lot of their funding for traveling around by sueing students who impede their first amendment rights, or who try to assault them in one way or another. Many students are normally jailed for one reason or another when this group visits campuses. NONE of out students were jailed, none gave into the bait. Infact, because they were getting so little attention, they were told off more than once for soliciting inside the buildings.

My peers created a group called the Student Response to the Genocide Awareness Project, and called the action they carried out Take Another Path. We created patches and provided another spot for students to gather to take their mind off the GAP (called the Carnival of Coincidence) and had the chaplains and other people for available if anybody needed to talk about how the displays made them feel if they saw them. Our group made an image for this plan, and distributed it around campus in the form of patches if a student wanted one... or more. Here is the symbol that was designed for our response. We joked about the GAP's calling it "a satanic symbol" because "it is a heart with a stake through it," it really is a type of (buddhist?) symbol for some sort of peace... it was explained to me, but i confess i forget the specifics.

the best part of the whole response was that there were people across all faiths, and with all stances on the issue of abortion coming together to fight for a common cause. this shows that while you may be pro-life or pro-choice the tactics the GAP were not approved of by anybody. Everybody thought they were horrible, including the number that was provided on their flyers, who didnt even know that their informtion was being spread around by the GAP. (On a side note, the number provided on their bilbords, "for post abortion counciling" connected us to a sex hotline... whoops!!! :D )

Even when 4 school buses of HS students and younger showed up to visit the planetarium the group quickly responded to the change and escorted them away from the display.

One mother came up to us the day after the children had come to thank us for helping her 13 year old son, who had had the misfortune to walk past the GAP and was stopped by one of the people there. She told us that he had been horrified and that the GAP personnel wouldnt stop talking to him despite his pleas for them to stop, and then she thanked us, because one of the students from the response team had swept him away and escorted him to a place where he was safe from the display, asking him if he wanted to talk to anybody about it.

this is only one of the outrageous things this group did, another was parking their truck (shown in the link provided above) over an overpass, next to a middle school.

I could go on about how harmful this project is, but im guessing you get the picture. I am so proud of my school, for our peaceful response and how well it worked. We have decided that we are going to make starter packets for all the other schools that the GAP plans of visiting in future, the list of which can be found on their home page. We hope in this way that there will be less students that will respond to them, creating the response they want and dont deserve.

So, my plea is to any student who reads this, and goes to the home page of the GAP and finds that their school is on the invasion list, please please PLEASE! if you dont use the same symbol and name that my school did, create your own, dont allow them to get the better of you! Fight them by ignoring them, maybe if everybody shows that nobody cares (or appears to care) they will go away permanently! Dont allow them to get what they want, no matter what your view is on the issue...

one last thing, the definition of genocide is: the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group (provided by Merriam-Webster).

Thank you for reading!!!

Hi All, Surprise!!!

OMG its been almost a year!!!

yeah, I considered posting every once in a while, but the work and school caught up with me.

I am officially a college student if you hadn't guessed. I am a bio/pre-med major, and I was a German minor until my college decided that languages were overrated... *grrrrrr*

lots has been happening. I only failed one course, though i did have to withdraw from chem because i could not for the life of me pass it my first time. Im doing much better this time around. I am getting at least 10 points over the mean each exam so *sigh of relief*.

Deutsch ist sehr Spass!!! Wir haben eine Projekt, und for mine Projekt ich 2 Monate in Europa planen... if you didnt guess from that just how poor my german is... well... then you dont know much either XD

I guess the biggest thing is that Im missing Norway. I love Maine, I love where I live, but I really miss the language. I miss my friends and my dear little sister Karro.

anyway, to the planning a trip thing... I am planning to take a 2 month trip through Europe, starting in Italy (Pompei) and going through Switzerland, Germany and Denmark and ending in Norway... I will take my time in Norway to visit people and search Church records to see if I have any relations in Norway now... but the rest of the trip is pretty open to ideas... anybody have ideas of where I should go?!

leave them in comments please!!! :D

Last Post in Norway

Heia!

Så, wow, i really didnt mean to write that like that... but im not going to change it since i already wrote this :)

So, this weekend was spent not at the hytte as i would have liked, but at home. No big deal really, it was nice anyway, especially as the book i bought recently seems to be the 7th book of a series, thus the incomprehensability of it... oh well.

On saturday we relaxed all day, didnt really do anything until we had guests for dinner. Our guests were Onkel Lars, his grandson, and 2 of Karro's cousin's and one of their's 2 children (did that make sense?). Anyway, the unfortunat blockage of names prevents me from remembering more buuuut i think you get it anyway. Oh, Guro and Ole-Peter and his gf Eilin were there too :)

that night we had the option of whale meat (aka Devyn's conflicted food) or rømmegrøt... a sort of porrige. I had the grøt, with the typical topping of sugar and cinnamon :)

it was pretty relaxed, with maybe a bit too much wine and beer (not me, i dont like either of those) and me eventually getting tired enough to slink off to my room... gatherings + Devyn + no hideaway = exhausted Devyn... People are good to a point. XD

It turns out that one of the Cousins' children stayed over night with Karro, which meant they were up later than I was... that in itself deserves a round of applause. whenever i have the ability to I become a nocturnal crature. I dont really like to get up before noon, and i am ususally up until 1-3am... I know, probably not a good thing XP

But that didnt do anything to my sunday, since i was woken up for breakfast at 10... eeeeewwww. after breakfast i retreated to bed again and napped. Sunday was given over to Mamma and Pappa going on hikes respectivly and me trying to convince myself that the rain from the past week wouldnt have made the already cold lake colder... I say cold because of all the snow that is STILL melting in the mountains... 8/ pretty cool if i do say so myself XD

Today i got up a little after 9 (shocking huh?) so that Pappa and i could try and get things sent... if we had gone to the place that would have sent an overweight package and my snowboard it would have cost me 10,000 nok... OUCH!!! so it was eventually decided that my snowboard would have to come with me on the planes again... and I went to the post office to get 2 boxes to split up the big overweight package I had... didnt get all of it into the new boxes, but most :) thank goodness...

after that adventure to get the boxes and re-packing, I decided to take a little walk to the pasture thing where 2 horses are living. im not sure when they got there, I just noticed them a few days ago. i took them an apple a peice, and as horses do when you give them apples they continued to follow me as far as they could when i started to try and find my way out of the tall grass around their pasture. :) I think they were there for breeding purposes since one was obviously male (im not sure if he was gelded or not... he seemed a bit too sweet to be a stallion but im not sure since i havent had much to do with stallions :/ ) and the other was a mare. such sweeties :)

after that i went home to change into my bathing suit, meaning to shrink the mega tan line i have on my back and possibly go for a swim. I wasnt out there long before Marte and her darling children arrived! because of the heat and moisture in the air Agnethe's hair is a bunch of tight curls! SOOOOO CUTE!!!!! she was a bit sleepy when they got here, and when i took her out of her carseat she was perfectl content to be held. Took her a good 5-10 min to decide that she wanted to play with the Bocce Balls too :) Aksel was his normal active self, which was not helped by the sugar that was presented to him after Guro and I made a trip to the store (after FINALLY sending my packages).

It was really fun to have them there even though it made me forget that i was supposed to have made pizzas for kl 8... -.- whoops.

truthfully, i was only a bit late with them! so all was good. and Agnethe is so much more fun when awake! I found out why she is suddenly afraid of dogs now too. Aparently the neighbor's dog was rocketing around and crashed into her, thus she is afraid of them. we managed to get her okay with seeing and being a little closer to Kazan then she was origionally, but when Aksel accidentaly kicked a ball through the door near where Agnethe was standing Kazan came rushing in after it. That created a crying bout that was quite loud and drippy... oh well.

pretty soon though Agnethe was tired and it was time for them to go home... :( Im saddened by this because i know that Agnethe wont recognize me next time i come... :( but Aksel will!

Oh! I forgot something funny that happened with Aksel! Today he learned that I am not from Norway, so he started asking all sorts of questions, mostly around the color of my parents' new house and their car and whatnot. XD then he asked what my parents' names were. My Mum's name got no reaction, but Dad's did XD apparently Mater is called Bil in the Norwegian versionl and Bil in norwegian means Car. Aksel was very excited that my Dad's name was the same as one of the characters in his favorite movie XD

After they all left I got to work. I had pizzas to make. One with meat for the normal norwegians, and 1/2 no meat just veggies for me, while the other half was light cheese and sauce for Karro :)

it was intense. I fried the meat with garlic and onions and a little bit of grill spices, then i cut up more onions and some red pepper and some mozzarella (sp) and jalapenos... mmmmm. spicy! I dripped the juice from the jalapenos on too to give it an extra kick.

I will note now something im not sure i noted before. there is a difference between spicy and norwegian spicy. meaning our slightly spicier than mild is a norwegian hot. it doesnt help that growing up my wonderful but constantly clogged up mother would add too many spices to her cooking so that she could taste them, thus i have a higher tolerance to spicy food than a lot of people... as long as i dont accidently inhale it... that's painfull. But anyway, Mamma had to pick off the jalapenos and i think she stopped adding the other spices and instead added... sour cream thats the word! to it to make it more mild... XD

my half a pizza had a LOT of jalapenos on it... om nom nom :D

after everybody was full we went into the other half of the room (we ate dinner in the living room :) ) to watch Trolljegeren!!! Which is officially one of my favorite movies. I warn all you readers, do not be fooled by the Hollywood version that is coming out sometime in the future... watch the origional norwegian version... with subs in your respective languages. The DVD I know own doesnt come with english subs though, so if my friends and family want to watch it we will have to watch it online... because i refuse to translate what they are saying... I will tell you this though.

If you are Christian, for your own safty dont come to Norway. Apparently one of trolls' favorite meals are Christians... XD anyway,i have translated the "Troll Sense Rules" for you all to remember if you ever decided to come to Norway XD

1: Never go into a forest after sundown
2: Dont go out on a long hike if you are Christian. Never.
3: Always be prepared for trolls, even on short trips. Always have a strong UV flashlight with charged batteries.
4: Dont walk so fast that you begin to sweat.
5: Be sceptical of tall moss-covered trees.
6: dont listen to "experienced" mountaineers. they dont know anything about trolls.
7: Go/walk alone. You never know who's a Christian.
8: Run away if you see the monster master. there is no shame.
9: if you meet a troll, bunker down and wait til sun up.
10: Stay away from Sogn and Fjordane (A fylke in Norway. dont ask me to translate it, im sure you all understand XP)

Arent they great rules?! anyway, SPOILER ALERT!!! at one point in the movie the origional camera man gets caught with the rest of the crew in a troll den. He begins to sweat profusly (sp) and uses all of the concentrated troll stank that the group has with them. The reason as he pretty much shouts when told to calm down "EG E KRISTIN!" "Im a Christian!" he then goes on to shout that they are all going to die which rouses the trolls since they had started to fall asleep. and in the mad dash for the entrance to the den (where it is finally sunny) the poor christian camera man gets caught and you can hear him screaming and squishing as he is eaten thanks to the mic on the camera... whoops! the camera broke also.

the next camera man (woman) was muslim. they asked if that was safe, but nobody new... we still dont know if its a good or a bad thing... O.o we will have to find out...

anyway, after that LOVELY film I got everybody outside to take a family picture :) its really sweet, and i will be printing one out for myself when i get back to the US of A and getting a frame to match the picture of my biological family :) Im really going to miss my norwegian family...

Unfortunatly im not going to see Ole-Peter and Eilin again before i leave, so they gave me my going away present tonight. A cool new bellybutton ring :) its a black barbell with a white stone and a black snake dangling under it. the snake has little white stones on it as well... so cool!!! Tusen takk igjen Ole-Peter og Eilin!!!

I think i might see Guro again before I leave, I hope she doesnt take the kl 7 boat... i wont be u to give her a hug good bye then... :(

anyway... tomorrow will be my last full day with my host family... and i will spend it packing and making sure everything is pretty cleaned up. It's UNBELIEVABLE how quickly this year has gone... really quite shocking. But it was a great experience and i had a lot of fun... and now im going to stop writing because i can feel this turning into a speech about how great going on exchange is. and I would like to avoid writing one of those for a slong as possible... XD

anyway, the next post i write will be back in the USA. and if it is not on Monday it will be on the friday after that. im not sure my jetlagged and captured self will be cohearent enough to write anything. XD

SÅ! Vi snakkes! tusen takk for en hejertelig godt år!!!

The Countdown can be done on 2 hands now. The return trip.

Heia allesammen,

Well, I am not quite sure what to write at this point. I thank you all for reading this blog although im sure it's been very repetative this year. I am not quite sure what drew you here, and im not sure what iterests you about my writing other than the continued miss-spellings and grammatic errors, the disjointed thought process and other humourous things that i am continually making a fool out of myself with. No worries, i'm not meaning to sound... whats the adjective i want... how about "down?" doesnt quite cut it... well, i dont mean to sound angry and down, im just a bit tired.

I'll tell you about what ive been up to this week in a bit, i just want to write my thoughts out for a bit.

This year has been one of the biggest things in my life. It hasnt all been good, im sure my family and friends can attest to that, but it hasnt been all bad either. Sure, i am a little sour about loosing my ability to go to the College that I had pinned my future on, and I know i still havent recovered, and probably never will, from not being able to say good bye to my family members in November. I have probably lost my studying ability, what little i had- im too much like my Dad in some respects, and i definitly have to sign up for the remedial math course this comming fall.

But then again, I have gained a language and a culture that most of my family only thought about in passing. Sure, I didnt find out if I have any remaining family in Norway today, but i have gained enough confidence in my language abilities that i would be able to search more in depth in the future. Thankfully i am looking at a long future. I have also gained a new family, a new older brother and sister, and the younger sister that i may or may not have always wanted... after living with one for a year im not so sure it makes any difference having a little sister or a little brother. I also gained a mass of friends and contacts that all seem to like me at least a little bit. they seem to want to know me better anyway, and ive been ordered by the lot that i need to return to Norway in the not too distant future. Ive also been told by about half of these friends that they are going to visit me next summer. So if you are a Mainer and you hear a languange that sounds like this and see some random people looking confusedly around portland without me around, please contact me immediatly... the majority of them actually dont know where i live and they might have been trying to suprise me...

anyway. Im sort of in a state of suspended depression like shock. I get random headaches from homesickness and panic that i am actually at the end of my AFS year... all in all, im probably not the most fun person to be around right now... infact if Kristin were here and not in MN i would probably be clining on to her and not allowing her to visit any of her semi normal friends... XD

ok, writing style should change at this point, I took a break to watch "Breakdancing Kakashi" videos on youtube... honestly, if i ever met someone as good at that style as that dancer (Chuck something-or-other... I would look up his name, but i would probably slaughter it trying to say it so im going to skip even trying to type it.) I would ask, beg perhaps, if they could teach me... I love learning new styles of dance, but i can seem to find a course for breakdancing or any sort of hip-hop dancing for beginners over the age of 10... *sigh*

anyway. I am not quite sure about the whole moods thing for these next 5-8 days. Im also a little upset that we're not going to the hytte this weekend... I was really hoping to go, but i guess i can still lay out with my book and sun anyway... that is if it isnt raining again. Its been raining all this week :P well, it was nice last night, which was appreciated.

OK!!! officially going to finish this post now... You people have no idea how long it takes me to write these... honestly, im not good at sitting down and writing a blog post, i get distracted and I get bored with myeself, and honestly I really want to eat noodle soup right now and drink way too much cola and watch more Fruits Basket. cause its cute.

But, anyway, this Monday I made 2nd attempt cheese danishes, which came out better than the origionals because i decided to let the glue like dough stay glue like and not add flour until it was just sticky. it made the danishes much flakier! XD and also i will never ever again try to stick multiple pans of danishes in the oven at the same time. they came out fine, it was just frustrating to rotate them and i burned myself in the process about 3 times... ouch!

But it was all worth it, out of the 14-16 i made i gave 8 to Karin (my contact mother) and her family as a thank you for the year :) I went over to visit for my last time. We made sushi and spring rolls for dinner and watched the hurtigrute minute for minute... which is interesting to an extent... but succeded in putting me to sleep...

It was quite nice to hang out with them, and before i left i got to pester Brynjar as he was tryin to play a game... XD Karin and I have decided that when they come to visit me in the States, we need to pretend Brynjar and I are twins that were seperated at birth and adopted by different families. We really look quite a bit alike and its fabuolous to have someone like him to pester... Im the older of the twins obviously XD

anyway, that was my monday... im not sure if i posted anything... i think i was probably too tired.

the rest of the week has been spent in happy lazyness. Except for yesterday. Karro and I biked into town to see the festival, which is harder than one would think because the whole way to town is basically one long up-hill... :P

but it was fun, Karro and I walked past Morgana once, then I walked past her again when we tried to walk back through to find her... yeah... i live in lalaland almost constantly XD

speaking of lalaland, i was just on youtube for the umpteenth time and i would like to share my increasing enrapturment for the cosplayer i noted above... his youtube account name starts with "dragonreborn" which in my mind immediatly makes me think of the Robert Jordan books... i had to share this with mum... her response on fb? "See there are nice men out there... dragon reborn - funny!" I love you Mum XD

honestly, if i ever meet this person in real life now im just going to hear that in my head as if mum was saying it aloud and im going to start cracking up... then everybody will think im clinically insane... which i might just be...

ANYWAY!!! yeah, town, Karro, biking, lalaland.

speaking of Lalaland!

JK!!!

Karro and i met Morgana in town after tracking mamma down... that took a while, it seemed nobody was sure exactly where the videoroom was. and when we finally found it Karro and I walked in on the end of her videoconfrence meeting... WHOOPS!!!

anway, we had a good time in town, I introduced Karro to Louise who owns the new goth butikk Kayotica in Harstad... the only goth butikk to be perfectly honest in northern norway apparently :) Karro's opinion of Louise? EPIC! XD everybody agrees except perhaps the barbies... Louise hung up a really obvious anti-barbie shirt/bag right in full veiw of the shopdoor, as to hopefully make it so barbies will close the door immediatly so she doesnt have to see their horrified/disgusted expressions XD

anyway, eventually we went to meet up with Jostein who had promised up ice-cream... NOT!!! he made it SOUND like he was giving us ice-cream, but he didnt XP

anyway, it was fun, we walked back to the city and made it just im time to pester Yngvild before she got off work! She's working at Libris, the local book store... a constant visit point for me :)

then it was time to bike home again... ugh

i took a rinse, then got dressed to go to the bonfire/grill for... i think it was midsmmer? or something like that... anyway, everybody in norway sets old chairs, brush and 80's clothes on fire... XD you could see the smoke from a good 10 fires from where we were... O.O thankfully it was raining all week before hand so the likelyness of it being able to spread was not very high with good supervision... I had to walk home to get my SD card because of my forgetting to put it back in my camera pretty quick though... but i still got food!!!

I was so happy to se such a cutie!!! Agnethe was adorable! She knows me very well now and at one point wanted to come to me and not be with her grandmother (sorry tante berit X$) and was a very persistant little thing when it came to wanting to join in the game of soccer with the big kids... i figured that since she is barely twice the hight of the ball we would watch and wait until we could play with it... XD

Oh, and apparently Agnethe is afraid of dogs now... she would start crying as soon as one of the big dogs came near her... at one point, when we had finally gotten the soccer ball, one of the dogs walked between Agnethe and me... he expression of shock was adorable! she just stared at it, but when the 2nd dog started to come closer to us, she ran/toddled over to me and hid under my arm... XD i love that little girl, she makes me smile :)

eventually i gave Guro a turn to babysit (actually she stole Agnethe from me) and i made a little braid of daisys :) i also put some other flowers in afterwords, and then i gave it to Agnethe, who was thrilled with it i might add XD

Isnt she adorable?!?!?! I would like to note that i have some of the worlds cutest youngsters in my various families... and she is one of them! the others would have to be my little cousins Shane and Matti XD

But after Agnethe decided she was done with the flowers, Tante Berit decided that she wanted them XD she took them home as far as im aware... :)

anyway, we hung out a bit more, then Mamma and I got tired and came home :) it was a really fun night :)

To share my love of cosplay.

So, first. I would like to note if you know nothing about the manga/anime Naruto then this will not be nearly as funny as it really is.

i will try to explain a little.

Naruto (the cosplayer in orange)and Sauske (White Shirt, Black hair, goes around flirting with everybody)are main characters in the series Naruto. The majority of the female fan base is conviced or atleast wishes for SOMETHING romantic to happen between them (despite the current battle between them in the manga) thus spawning a mass of SasuNaru art and cosplays XD there is no indication in the manga that this will ever happen, actually in the manga Naruto is in love with Sakura (pink hair makes her obvious in the vid). So, yeah...

i'll identify the other characters for you too :)

the blond girl is Ino.

the TALL guy with the mask is Kakashi (who if he was real i would abduct and find a way to inflict stockholm syndrom upon him)

Kiba is the guy with the triangles on his cheeks

Hinata is the sweety with the long black hair. she is a doll in the manga! love her to bits!

then you get Sai, who is the guy who shows up at the end of the party scene flirting with Sauske. the best part is that Sai hates and is supposed to kill Sauske in the Manga! XD

anyway. I believe the only cosålayers in this video that are actually male are those that play Kakashi, Kiba and Sai XD and i upload this video because if i was talented I would LOVE to do something like this!!! find the video on youtube and look at the cosplayers' DeviantArt accounts! some cool stuff their too!

and here is another Cosplay video. this time it is the same guy cosplaying Naruto, Sauske and Kakashi. I would like to note, the most likely reason Kakashi was chosedn for this is because in the manga Kakashi is almost ALWAYS reading a... ummmm... adult novel? yeah...

anway enjoy!!!

okay, im working on uploading pics, so there will be an actual post on what ive been up to recently as soon as i can get all the pics i want uploaded and have descriptors written under them... so soonish i think :D

snakkes!!!

*Note*
Apparently this posted "after" I posted my pics and everything... that is a lie, Blogger just wants to screw with your head... XD

I NEED A PASTRY BRUSH!!! D8

Heia!!!

Sorry i havent posted for a while. havent really felt like it. and i was trying to enjoy my last month abroad... really, its shocking how quickly this year has passed, and these last few weeks have been almost nothing... its scarey

anyway, first i will tell you about the most interesting things before i load the pics.

first, yesterday I went to Heggen's 3rd year Graduation, and really it wasnt too different from a normal american graduation in terms of what was said and such. and like my own graduation there were students that preformed peices and announced things about the school and the class' times there. but the most interesing thing that happened was:

Im going to begin to abdicate that at least one person in every grade is taught how to juggle so that there can be fire juggling during Mr Peirce's speech (Mr Peirce being the principal of Casco Bay High School)just because Mr Peice is cool enough not to be overshadowed by it, and it would make his already amazing speeches utterly epic XD

after that rousing round and many drops of the flames, there was more talking, then the horror. Ulf, the advisor for the exchange students at Heggen were called up on stage... um, not okay. i was near the front so i got up there a little before Morgan and so i stood there ackwardly and did a little wave of "hi, i would rather be hiding right now, but my friends wouldn't let me, so here i am." which made everybody laugh.

but, it wasnt too long, we got our proof of participation papers (which is probably very crumpled at the bottom of my "purse" at this point (i say "purse" becuase i have sucessfully fit 9+ books and my wallet, phone and ipod in it, so i think it's more like a sack)) and tried to scaddadle (sp) off stage, but we were called back because we were being gifted with a book about Heggen and its 100th anniversary, which was a few years ago...aka, a really boring book.

anyway, after the whole shebang was done my class met up to give our main teacher a bouquet (sp) and watch a slide show of gym photos... XD after that we had a discussion about where we would have our little party thing and gave hugs to Sidsel (Norwegian and Religion teacher) and Jorun (Bio and Gym teacher). When i went to give Jorun a hug and say thanks for the year she gave me a huge hug and said "TUSEN tusen takk for brevet du har skrevt!" (THANK YOU for the letter you wrote!) to which i looked shocked, until she told me she got a copy of the report i wrote about Bio... O.O' I mean, im glad that she liked what i wrote, i really loved her classes (except for the running at the begining of the year in gym) and she was one of my favorite teachers, but if she read the report i wrote does that mean that the other teachers got copies too? for example, does Bente Bitch know how i felt about her class now? or the math teacher? every time i think about the possibilities i feel like im going to break out in a cold sweat... not good. But then again im so glad she liked what i wrote, apparently it was first read to her over the phone because she was in Tromsø (getting an operation maybe? she was on crutches and i remember her talking about getting surgery done on her knee) and apparently she at least got teary over it... i seem to have an ability to make teachers cry with my writing. and i dont mean that its bad writing. poems and heartfelt reports XD

anyway, after the hugs and the thank you for your patience with me this year to to teachers I went out to join my class in one last group photo :D

then we went down to the strange restaurant Milanos. not the best food or service, but they have big tables and its okay to be a bit noisy :)

i realized just how shy i was about speaking to my class in school i was this year when i started talking to some of the people that are not in my circle of friends. they kept commenting on how good i was with Norwegian now, and how they remembered the begining of the year when i kept asking for things to be repeated or said more slowly XD

it was really nice to talk to them all, and i passed around the book on Heggen so people could at least write their names in it if they didnt want to write a message. It was really cool to see what people wrote, and it seems as if they actually do like me at least a little even if we didnt communicate very often or well... most of them told me that i need to come back to Norway soon, and i got a lot of hugs :D

Today I have battled the kitchen and online recipeis to make giant but really good cheese danishes! i started making them around kl 12 and was done about 5 hours later, because the need to chill the dough and such :) i gave about 7 to Kristin and her family as a thank you gift for the year they had let me invade their house and eat their food and their overall kindness. they were very well recieved :D and very pretty no? Oh, and this is my complaint, and the meaning of the post title. I have been usuing folded paper towls to put on the glaze for my masterpeices... and it really doesnt work... thats why i want a pastry brush because i love making pastrys!!!

Im very proud of myself for these master peices. here is the recipe i followed!

anyway... maybe it is time for me to load the pics from my trip to Andøya!!! would you all like that??? i think you will XD

If you cant tell, this is a picture of the signs on the car ferry to the other island, or at least one of the other islands. i think the 2nd sign in looks like a pie!!!

Morgana taking a "thai" picture. One thing you have to note about all the thai AFS-ers is that when they take pictures like face shots or anything where they see the camera 90% of the time they will make a peace sign or put peace signs around their faces XD just a little exasperating at times when you want to take a semi normal pic :$

the skeleton of a very very large sperm whale. O.O

the little bump at the back of the skull has a hole at the top where the brain would sit. did you know that sperm whales have the largest brain in the animal kingdom?

that is the skull of the smallest toothed whale, its sitting on one part of the lower jawbone of the giant sperm whale.

Spekkerhogger translates to killer whale basically :D that is the skull of an Orca!!! I love Orcas! they are very interesting creatures. I learned on a Discover show that Orcas from differnt regions in the world have different dialects. Meaning they have the same songs, but whales from around New Zealand for instance sound different from those from the North Pole! SO COOL!!!

that skeleton is a younger whale of the same species as the whale that had the skull right next to it. apparently the larger whale was the leader of its pod and the pod will follow the leader even if it leads them into a place they are certainly going to die... interesing huh? sorry, i forgot the name of the species.

There are whale songs being played in space? if any other life forms can understand them i hope they arent saying something rude... that wouldnt be good for usearthlings XD

A trailer with a bunch of BMW bikes... *fidgit fidgit* i really want to practice driving a motercycle again...

Here begins the pictures of the amazing floating mountains as i call them. i just love how they clouds make them seem to dissapear!

Looking back at the tunnel we had just driving through. *Note* Most of these pics are taken through a car window at high speeds, and unfortunatly the program i use to check my photos is being uncoupertative, so i cant crop them as i normally would. I shall also note that is all i do with my pics, cropping. I dont edit, partly because im pretty sure i cant do it well and i like to show people the things i see as i see them and show how beautiful something is that can be so common place. :)

A lovely beach, and actually the island at the left side of the frame is the island we were going to try and see, but obviously we missed it D: no puffins for us :(

This picture was taken as i was craning back to try and see the top of the mountain we were parked at the base of. it was just SO TALL!!!

Taken at the outskirts of a little village, tiny actually. only about 4 houses. so maybe it doesnt count? :)

This is the time when i really wish i had my cropping ability!!!

I really liked the lines in this one and the colours too :)

Morgana looking out at the little island we had found, it was covered in gulls and cormarants (or they looked like cormarants)

Morgana in all her lovelyness :)

Morgana's Host father, I really liked his expression in this one... I was actually trying to get a good pic of the birds flying around us, but i liked this one more than the ones with just the birds :)

Flotsam!!!

Purple sea urchin :) love the colours!!!

Sea Urchin bits! I accidently put my knee in bird poo to get this shot... ÆÆÆSJE!!!

Mountains!!! You can see just how suddenly they come out of no where in this pic :)

Colours how i love you!

I love this pic. love it, Love it, LOVE IT!!!

The sheep that blocked the road as i told in an earlier post :)

Now more mountain shots!

The sign that shows where we were, and the direction we are going :D

Anyway, I will post more pics soon, I just have so many i have to go through. it doesnt help that Karro has kidnapped my baby camera... and she is now fiddling with it making bright flashes of light at the corner of my vision while i write this... not the best for my concentration...

also, I was thinking I might try to load a pic or a few onto this website. It seems to be a contest, though i havent really read it as of yet... what do you think? should i? and if so, which pic should i enter? you can chose any picture of mine that you find on this blog. just send me the name of the post and the number it shows up as in that post (as in 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc)

here's the link!!!

okai dokker! Vi snakkes!!!
